4-H Clubs in Oldham County

Anyone between the ages of 9-18 may participate in the 4-H program. (Kids under age nine can join 4-H too as Cloverbuds!) Many people have the misconception that you have to live on a farm to be in 4-H. 4-H happens wherever kids are. Oldham County has several types of opportunities for 4-H participation: community clubs, school clubs, and after school clubs. Clubs focus on lots of different interests such as sewing, shooting sports, horses, dogs, cooking, and more! Registration is required to attend club meetings. Meeting dates and times are subject to change due to holidays, school closings, and weather events.

Cloverbuds

If you are in grade K-3, you can be a Cloverbud! Members of this club are exposed to a variety of projects with an emphasis on learning new skills and having fun. Our club strongly encourages 4-H involvement and community service. Meetings will generally be held the third Thursday of the month, starting in October of 2024. Adventure Club

This club is for those ages 9-18 years old who like to explore the outdoors. Youth can learn nature and outdoor living skills at monthly meetings at the OC extension office. Meetings will generally be the second Monday of the month. Some outings for adventures like hiking, indoor rock climbing, kayaking, fishing, day-camping, etc. will be held on a Saturday away from our office. Leaders are Andrew and Chelsea Meredith. Delicious Delights

If you are in grades 3-5 and you love to make tasty treats, this club is for you! Members learn the proper techniques to use when preparing foods. This club generally meets the first Monday of the month from September to May, but is subject to change due to holidays. Teen Chef Club

Calling all Middle and High Schoolers who love to cook and bake! This new club will focus on more advanced cooking and baking skills. Join us to make some food and learn some new techniques. Leaders of the Pack Dog Club

This fun and exciting club meets monthly from September to April. Educational programs include a range of canine related topics, such as dog health and care, dog careers, and homemade dog treats, as well as a variety of guest speakers. From the late spring through the State Fair, weekly club meetings help prepare and train members and their dogs for showmanship, agility, and obedience competitions at the State 4-H Dog Show and other county events. Members also participate in community service projects throughout the year. Cloverbuds welcome! 4-H Friends Cloverbuds

4-H Friends Cloverbud Club is the place to make new friends and have so much fun! We will learn about 4-H, enjoy hands-on projects and focus on community service. The 4-H Cloverbud Program is designed for youth in kindergarten through third grade. Come join us! This club generally meets the fourth Monday of the month from September to May. Clover Explorers

The Clover Explorers is for youth ages 9-13. The Clover Explorers explore a variety of 4-H projects. Most projects will be eligible for fair entry. If you have aged out of the Cloverbuds, this is the club for you. This club generally meets the second Tuesday of each month from September to May. Clever Clovers

This club is a group of homeschoolers, ages K-12, who love to explore a variety of interests. This club encourages career exploration, community service, and introducing new skills. Meeting are usually on the second Thursday of each month, and most months there is an additional activity or field trip planned. Teen Leadership Club

Oldham County’s Teen Club is open to anyone between the ages of 14 and 18 interested in being a community leader. This club focuses on leadership and community service and, of course, having fun! Ballardsville High Riders Horse Club

Open to horse lovers ages 9—18. Even if you don’t own a horse, the 4-H horse program is a great way to learn about horses and meet other kids who enjoy them. The club will take field trips to learn about horse care, tack care, general horsemanship and riding. Opportunities to participate in horse shows, arts, crafts, photography and academic contests are provided. Shooting Sports

4-H Shooting Sports promotes growth and development through leadership, responsibility, and teamwork. 4-H’ers learn to safely handle and shoot firearms and archery equipment. Disciplines offered are shotgun, air pistol, pistol, rifle, black powder, and archery. Each discipline meets on a different night of the week from April through September.
